East Select Soccer is run by a volunteer group of people dedicated to working on the improving the soccer experience in the Duluth area.
Club President: Heidi Guenther
Heidi has two daughters that play soccer and another the focuses on basketball. Her daughter Aubrie is a member of the U18 girls team and her daughter Emma plays on the U9 girls team. She has been president for 1 year. She is married to Chad Guenther who works as a police officer in Duluth
Past-President: Natalie Hoff
Natalie has a daughter Callie, who played ESS for 9 years. Natalie was the President of East Select Soccer for four years. She is married to Sandy Hoff and has a son Braden who attends Duluth East High School. Natalie works at FISalter Real Estate.
Vice President: Josh Friday
Josh has had three of his children play East Select Soccer; Morgan and Bailey who played for many years before moving on to Shattuck St. Mary's, Nolan who plays on the U18 boys team and Darby and Hadley play for the U9 girls team. Josh has been Vice-President for eight years for East Select Soccer. His wife Bridget was also a member of the board for 5 years. Together they run Friday Property Management.
Treasurer: Kevin Boerboom
Kevin has two daughters who play with East Select Soccer, his daughter Alison played for many years with ESS and his other daughter Sydney is on the U14C3 girls team. Kevin has been the treasurer for the Lake Superior Open for three years before taking this position.
Tournament Director: Toni Christensen
Toni will be taking over as the tournament director from Jodi Nelson, she has kids at U12 boys and U14 girls.
Manager of Mangers/Club Secretary: Cindy Rourke
Cindy took this position over three years ago from longtime manager of managers Kirsten Leider. She has a daughter named Riley who has played ESS for seven years and who is currently playing on the U16C2 girls team. She is also a teacher at Ordean Middle School.
Member at Large: Jermey Downs
Jermey is a local attorney and a life-long resident of Duluth. He is married to Sara and have two boys; Grady who plays on the ESS U14 boys team and Jacob is a member of the U9 boys team. Jermy is in his third year as a board member and also manages the U14 boys team.
Member at Large: Trish Johnson
Trish has been on the board since 2014, her twin daughters Jamie and Katelynn both are in their sixth year and play with the U14 girls teams.
Member at Large: Emily Nothacker
Emily is in her fourth year on the ESS board. She and her husband Steve have a daughter Gracie started ESS nine years ago and is currently on the U18 girls team.
Member at Large: Alina Heydt
Alina is in her second year as an at large member, she has two players involved in the program. Both Tenzy and Rilo play on the jamboree teams.
Member at Large: Jodi Nelson- Our long time tournament director has remained on the board after her time as tournament director has passed. Her daughter McKenzie has been in the club for nine years and is currently on the U18 girls team.
Member at Large: Tracey Ricketts- Tracey is a new board member and has a daughter on the U14c3 girls team. She is also known around the community though her work at Duluth East.
Member at Large: Eric Beyer- Another new board member for the 2017 season, he practices law in Duluth and has a boy that is on the U14 boys team.
– Act as the main contact during try-outs, put initial rosters together, work with coaches
- Verify and Submit player information to AYSA
- Receive players passes from AYSA, distribute to team managers to be signed
- Get signed passes back from team managers, laminate, distribute.
- Other tasks as necessary (contact MYSA if a player drops out or joins)
Update website – Attend Board meetings and update website on a monthly and as needed basis
Board Member – Yearlong commitment
This is not your run-of-the-mill Board. Serving on the Board is a Great way to meet other parents and become more involved in ESS!
Tryout Committee – Help organize and be involved during tryouts. 1-month time commitment
- Distribute Flyers and recruit new players
- Reserve Sites
- Help with Field Set-up and registration the days of tryouts
Tournament Committee – Help organize/run Lake Superior Open. 4-month time commitment
Tournament Registrar - Be the contact for registering teams for the LSO. 4-month time commitment
House a coach – If you have an extra room in your home, have an English Coach stay with you! 3-months
Team Manager – Season long commitment. Please ask for more information.
